Lindapter Unleash The Claw

Lindapter Unleash The Claw

Product News Tuesday, November 30, 2010: Lindapter International

The steelwork fixing specialist has launched the Type LS, a premium self-adjusting clamping system manufactured from high-grade stainless steel.

The fixing is designed for use in harsh environments such as those found offshore or in conditions that demand high chemical resistance including food processing. Dubbed 'The Claw' by Lindapter’s R&D team, due to the aggressive curved and pointed shape, the clamp is suitable for various flange thicknesses and slopes up to 10°.

Lindapter again demonstrates the benefits of eliminating onsite drilling or welding with the latest Type LS, allowing the fixing to be installed without damaging the protective coatings of steelwork. Specialist tools or packing pieces are not needed, dramatically improving ease of use, assembly speed, and of course, labour costs. The Type LS further enhances the Lindapter range, enabling stainless steel fixings to be available as standard stocked items, greatly improving delivery times and unit costs in comparison to ‘Special’ made-to-order products.

Wayne Golden, marketing manager commented “The superior Lindapter features an extreme resistance to corrosion, whilst providing the upmost convenience in terms of ease of installation. We wanted to answer the demand for an ‘off-the-shelf’ solution in petrochemical applications, however the suitability extends to dairies, breweries, pharmaceutical environments, or any situation that requires a steelwork fixing with protection against chemical or environmental forces.”

Cast in stainless steel equivalent to grade 316, the fixing is perfectly suited to withstand corrosive industrial atmospheres. The tail spans over slotted holes with special serrations to prevent the clamp rotating during installation. The new Type LS is available in sizes ranging from M10 to M20, with the largest featuring a clamping flexibility to fit flanges between 3 to 30mm in thickness. The M20 has a tensile safe working load of 18kN per bolt, calculated at a 5:1 factor of safety.
